Default Outlook XP (2002) won't load

Can anyone help. I have been running Office XP for years with no problem
- now Outlook has gone wrong!

Clicking on the icon starts Outlook but after the splash screen it
immediately exits with no error message.

I've tried the following;

- uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling
- repairing .pst file
- removing outcmd file
- uninstalling Office XP and then reinstalling
- looking for previous restore points

These have all failed to solve the problem.

Taking the .pst file to another machine is fine, Outlook 2002 works
fine there.

I really need to get back to me emails so if anyone can help ...

What happens when you create a new mail profile? Open the mail applet in
control panel and try that. Won't fix the problem, but then you can open
your PST under a new profile.

Thanks for the suggestion but I forgot to mention that I had tried that
as well.

As you say, I started the mail 'client' from the control panel and
created a new profile but the 'Outlook Application' still would not
load.

I think there must be some file 'lurking' that is causing the
application to fail but I can't imagine what it can be.

And if you start outlook using either;
outlook.exe /resetnavpain
or
outlook.exe /safe
(StartRun. note space between exe /)

It may be a pain, but it's spelled "/resetnavpane".
