conditional formating of a chart?
Can you place conditional formats on charts? I know you can with cells but I
want a chart to reflect distinction between values or a chosen number.

The is no built-in CF for charting. is your solution below still the best alternative? Excel 2007 did not introduce any features that would make this easier.
