file paths in headers and footers in Visio 2000
The information available for placing in the header and footer is limited
and you will not be able to add the file path. Having said that, does a single page of your Visio drawing print on only one page. If so you can use a background page and add file paths (and far more than is available in Headers/Footers) Headers and Footers were specifically added to Visio to address the problem of when a Visio page must print on multiple physical pages. They relate to the size of the physical page, while background pages relate to the size of the drawing page. John... file paths in headers and footers in Visio 2000
Thanks John - did you mean the background files have a way of adding the filepaths(like autotext)? I'm not all that savy with Visio, so I'm wondering if you could let me know how this is done? I guess this leads to why we need this done: we're trying to figure out a way to open up Visio for every instance with a new default template which has either a header or footer with information we want to autopopulate - like being able to change the normal.dot in word.

Thanks in adavance! Under the Insert Menu is an option for Field, this will allow you to add a multitude of information to a page. In addition to the file path, there is also a collection of dates. Once added to a drawing, the information is updated if it ever changes. Far more choices than with headers and footers. Background pages allow you to add the same information to each page in the same location. Once created, you can save the drawing as a template for later use. John... Visio MVP |
