Default Can I make a distribution list fron contact list

I want to make a distribution list. The addresses are in my Contact List.
There are no entries in my Address Book. Do I need to copy Contacts to
Address Book first. If so, how do I do this? If not, how do I make
distribution list from Contact List

The term Contact List has no meaning in Outlook.
There is no separate address book in Outlook. The address book is simply a
view of your Contacts' email addresses.
Outlook uses Contact Folders in which you can create as many DL's as you
want. It's complicated:
File New Distribution List.

Thank you for your reply. Next related question: When I follow the prompts
you outlined below, I cannot move or minimize the boxes which block my list
of contacts. Is there a way to select and copy a number of names at one
time? I was able to get a list and select the names, but then there was no
way to copy them to the Distribution List. (Hope this is not too jumbled.)

You can use the method here if the addresses are in the correct format:

Thanks. It worked. I had trouble initially, but I believe it was because I
selected too many names. When I selected fewer names, things worked just
fine. Again, thanks.
