How could I force Outlook to look for names in my contacts ?
Hi,
I don't like the Auto Complete function in the New email window as it's quite messy. Instead, I'd like Outlook to start looking in my contacts for all the names starting with the letter R, for instance, when I type an R in the "To" line and then refine the search as I type the second letter, third, etc. Is that possible ? Thanks. |

You can certainly turn off autocompletion (ToolsOptionsE-mail OptionsAdvanced E-mail Options, uncheck "Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields") and then use autoresolution. With autoresolution enabled (the "Automatic name checking" box on that same dialogue), you can enter the first three letters of a person's name, then tab out of the field or press Ctrl-K or click the "Check Names" button to resolve the address. Outlook has no way to reference your Contacts as you type. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
