Install message when using Outlook 2003 and Visio 2007
This isn't a critical issue, just an irritating one; the kind that MS
seems to excel at. I have Office 2003 Professional on my desktop (Win XP SP2.) I also have Visio 2007, since that version hasn't been infected by the stupid bleeping ribbon and other U.I. "improvements" which have trashed 20 years worth of user training. Since installing Visio, when downloading some, not all, messages for the fist time in a session, a dialog appears in Outlook 2003 telling me that it's installing something relating to Visio 2007. If left to its own devices, the dialog will just proceed along, show a progress bar, and eventually tell me that I need to restart for the changes to take effect. However most of the time I cancel it because I don't feel like having my e-mail download delayed while a useless dialog does nothing of any value. Has anyone else encountered something like this and if so, could they please tell me which iron bar I need to use to club the dialog across the head and kill it permanently? |

Take a look at this article and see if it helps :
925834 When you install Visio Professional 2007 on a computer that is also running Outlook 2003 and then run Outlook, Outlook may stop responding http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;925834 Basically, it is caused by Installer actions that aren't completing, and you need to upgrade Office / Outlook 2003.
