Default Office 2007 doesn`t want to install on Windows Home Vista Premium

Hello!

My friend has a problem with installing Office 2007 from DVD on
Windows Home Vista Premium.
He told me that he had no error message, but while installing Office 2007
it stopped installing and Office was automaticaly deinstalling.

I can add that it is a new and fresh Vista system install.

Can you tell me what it should be done to install Office 2007
on this system? Maybe you know some tricks?

Please help
kindest regards
heyoo

The most common reason is that the computer came with a preinstalled TRIAL
version of office (usually student/home) that MUST be uninstalled before
a full version is installed. There is a "clean up" utility from microsoft
(downloadable) that may need to be run after the trial version uninstall.
I went thru this hassle with an HP laptop before the cleanup utility was
available, and had to manually remove what seemed like hundreds of registry
entries pertaining to office before the install of full office 07 would
complete properly. One of the minor problems was that a not for commercial
use message persisted from the trial version to the full version before the
registry entries were removed. A full student/home version may continue to
have a version of this message.
