Default Outlook closes when accessing calendar

I have a laptop with outlook 2000 where the user changed
his calendar view to 7 days. Since he has done that
everytime he clicks on his calendar it closes outlook.
He is able to access other users calendars he views. I
had him log on to a different pc and the result is the
same. Anyone know how to go back to one day view without
having the calendar open.

Thanks.

I have found that it is usually in a recurring appointment that
has gone bad during the week of the freeze (when did the
freeze start?)

1) Open the Outlook but do not try to open the calendar.

2) Create a New folder (Calendar Test)

3) Do an advanced find on the old calendar and sort events
by recurrence.

- Press F3
- Change the Look For: text box to Appointments and Meetings
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Click Field
- Select All Appointment fields
- Select Recurring
- Condition: equals
- Value: Yes
- Click the Add to List button
- Click Find Now

Drop and drag from advanced find listed events one at a time to
the new calendar, when you get to the corrupt item it will give
you an error message or it will hang. (delete this item)

Or if it is not a recurring (which our's always are) you could
perform the find for all and do the same as above...

Move all your calendar items from Calendar Test folder back to
original calendar (these are previously dragged over items).

Unfortunately this didn't work. It did find reocurring
appts and we did delete them, but the problem remains.
When Outlook opens you can see the calendar, when it
tries to open the monthly calendars on the righthand side
it shuts down. This user does have a palm, which we did
sync to get rid of all the appts.

Any other thoughts?? By the way this started on Saturday
when user was working offline.

Might be that the client's OST file is corrupt. I think I would try
deleting all *.ost files on the client's hard-drive.

Close Outlook
Perform a FIND (click on desktop and press F3)
(If you are using XP or W2K operating system be
sure to look in hidden files)
Look for *.OST files.
Delete all that you find from the find window.
Restart Outlook.

When you restart Outlook it will rebuild a fresh new
ost file. Depending on how much information the client
keeps in their mailbox this can cause the first opening
to take longer than normal.

You may want to look into the following possible solutions
There are several solutions offered on this page
(not just the scanpst):

To repair a damaged Personal Folders PST file:
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm

On this page is also mentioned the use of Scandisk.exe
and the PST2GB tool (along with some others).
