Default How to add annotation/callout/note to chart?

In Excel 2003, is there any way to add an annotation/callout/note to a
chart -- for example, if I want to add a description to a data point or
other item?

Thanks,
Don Culp

Open the Drawing tool (View | Toolbars)
Use one of the shapes (callouts are great) to put a shape with text on the
chart
Caveat: you should begin by clicking on the chart to activate it then select
the shape; in this way the chart and the shape are 'grouped' so if you move
the chart on the worksheet the shape will go with it.
best wishes
