Default Connecting Annotation to a connection

I would like to be able to annotate the connections between shapes in
my flow chart. For example, going from Shape A to Shape B is a
connection arrow, and I would like to annotate the connection arrow
with "Automatic or Manual". However the annotation does not seem to
be able to 'glue' to the arrow. If I move the arrow, the annotation
does not move with it.
Is there another way to annotate connections?

menu Tools - Snap & Glue
and tick the Shape Geometry box in the Glue to section.
