Default Cell question in Word 07

When my text won't fit on the first line of the cell, and a word has to go to
the second line, it spreads out the first line of words all the way across
the cell. Is there any way to change ths?

It sounds as if the text in the cell(s) has been set to justified alignment
(means the text will flush both left and rigth). If that is the case, select
the text and change the alignment to left. This can be done via the Home tab
Paragraph group Align Text Left icon or via the Paragraph dialog box - or

by pressing Ctrl+L.
