MS Office 07. Notice says A prob caused the prog to stop working

After using Word 07 or Excel 07. Typing some text or numbers then not needing
the text or numbers, I wipe the mouse over them and delete. Do I wish to save
the changes? I click NO.
A minute or 2 later a message pops up saying "A problem caused the program
to stop working correctly" You will be notified when a solution is available"
?????????
