Default Licensing question when upgrading from Office 2003 to 2007

If I have 1 license for Office Pro 2003 and purchase 4 upgrade
editions for Office Pro 2007, do I still retain that 2003 license and
then gain 4 2007 licenses?

Nope, you will have 1 valid Office 2007 Pro license, and 3 useless ones
until you get more qualifying software.
