How do I get the sum of a column of digits in MS Word 2007?
In older versions of Word getting sum of digits was possible by using TOOLS
and going to formula (or equation?); but there is no TOOLS tab in Word 2007. So where do I go to be able to get the sum at bottom of a column of digits in a table? |

ToolsCalculate is the command (it hasn't been on the Tools menu by default
in many versions, though). It's still available from the All Commands list (so you could add it to the QAT), but it doesn't have an icon, and in Word 2007 you can't even assign (much less design) one, so you have to settle for the green button (though you will get the appropriate ScreenTip). -- Suzanne S. Also, on the table tools ribbon layout tab data group, you can click
"formula", which will take you to the formula dialog. PamC Suzanne S. Barnhill wrote: ToolsCalculate is the command (it hasn't been on the Tools menu by default in many versions, though). Formula will work only for form fields or table cells, though (unless you go
to the trouble of bookmarking amounts). The beauty of Tools | Calculate is that it works on any column of numbers (selected using Alt+Drag) or even on running text. The result is placed on the Clipboard and displayed in the status bar; you can just view it, or you can paste it in. I'm not sure I've ever heard of this feature. But it could come in handy.
Thanks for the link. Too bad it doesn't convert hex numbers to decimal. PamC Suzanne S.
