Part Numbers Change after Importing
Create a new table that has all the fields needed to import the Excel
spreadsheet. Make sure that the problem fields are text datatype. Import into this new table first. Then append the records from this table into where they finally go. Delete all records from the new table so that it is ready for the next import. Or Another option is to create a dummy row in Excel. It will be either the first row or second row if you have a header row. Put alphabetical characters into the problem fields in this row. After importing the spreadsheet, delete the bogus record from the table. -- Jerry Whittle Light. Strong. Cheap. Pick two. Keith Bontrager - Bicycle Builder. "Nanette" wrote: I have an Excel spreadsheet that I imported into Access. Some of the data (Part Numbers) are coming in strange. The part number in Excel (9000175) turns into 9.0002e+006 once imported into Access. The part numbers are in text format in Excel and Access because some of the part numbers include letters i.e. BNC-1111. Is there an easy way to clean up the Excel or Access doc? |
