I would really, really like to see the graphics editor features that are in
Word in Publisher. WOW! The beta version lacks this feature. Do it!

Yes, that's because the new UI hasn't been incorporated into 2007 Publisher.

To add any features of this magnitude (even if it were possible to
incorporate the graphics features without bringing in the ribbon) at this
stage in the game would be impossible.
