Pilcrow

can anyone give me any help please ?.
when typeing in word, after the blinking cursor i get the "Pilcrow" character along with various other characters,it never used to be like that so i must have changed something but i dont know what, it is annoying to say the least, i would just like to get the "blinking cursor" without any additions.

Make sure you have do not have a tick in the formatting marks, check this by using the menu Tools|Options|View

Press Ctrl+* or click on the Show/Hide ¶ button on the Standard toolbar. For
