Default Filter mode Count

How do I get the filter mode at the bottom left hand
corner of the window to give me a count? There must be
something i have in my excel spreadsheet. I pulled up a
less complicated file and when i use the filter, it'll
give me a count of how many records. But with this
particular file, it doesn't give me a count. It just
says "filter mode" at the left bottom corner. I made sure
it was set to "Count" by right clicking in the bottom
status bar.

Help!
Thank you in advance!

Hi

Have a look on this page:
http://www.contextures.com/xlautofilter02.html#Count
It explains the problem and gives a couple of workarounds.
