paper resizing problem
I tried to set my paper size to 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches in custom size. The print preview looks good and the margins line up nicely until I try to print at which point I get an error saying "The margins of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page. Do you want to continue?" If I push yes, it will print as if it were printing on a full sheet of paper. Please help me with this. Thank you.

paper resizing problem
In Word 2003 and Word XP, at least, 5.5 X 8.5 is one of the standard size
selections in Page Setup. Your problem might clear up if you use the standard selection. In any event, however, you've got to set you overall margins inside the printable area of your printer. This may require changing your publication design, unless you can switch to a different printer with a larger printable area. -- Matt Lusher Microsoft Corporation Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. paper resizing problem
This may be true on your printer, Matt, but not on mine (in Word 2002 or
2003). Word gets its paper size selection from the printer driver, and my printer does not offer the Statement size. In Word NT, 2000, and XP, you can define custom paper sizes (Start | Settings | Printers | File | Server Properties); this option is also available through the Printer Properties, but my printer at least (LJ 4100) permits only a certain number of custom sizes; to add more, you have to delete some of the existing ones. -- Suzanne S.
