I was able to do it with the old Word, but now I have a new computer with XP
.... and it is not better!!!!!

It hasn't changed - table sort
This will sort by paragraph or by table cells.

I am having the same problem. Highlighting the fields I want sorted and
going to TableSort, does not give me the option to sort alphabetically. I
have 24 columns, and I need to sort them alphabetically. When I click on the
Sort option, I am shown about 4 entries, and asked if I want to sort by those
entries. ?? I do not see where I can specify that I want EVERYTHING
HIGHLIGHTED sorted alphabetically.

Any clues?

The sort option sorts rows - you can choose which column(s) to sort on but
you cannot sort columns independently. For anything more adventurous, paste
the table into Excel and use its sort options to give you what you want.
