Default Outlook 2007 shared calendar messaging interface error

I just got it today. I have installed it. Unfortunately I will just have to
watch it over a period of time to see if it will resolve (as this is somewhat
of a random issue). I will post any updates I have here.

Nope! Sorry to say, it does not resolve the issue. I had an instance today
where I opened my calendar and received the same error. I consulted with my
employee whose calendar now will not open and she says that she did not
disconnect or do anything out of the ordinary. I will say that I know I
viewed her calendar earlier in the day sucessfully. Furthermore, I will note
that I had Hibernated my laptop over the weekend and docked it this AM. At
some point things were moving slowly, so I rebooted it. I do not know if I
viewed her calendar pre or post reboot. Nevertheless, all other calendars
are in full view and are not seeing this issue.

Default Outlook 2007 shared calendar messaging interface error

Our company also have Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2007 clients (we've
deployed Office 2007 to about 500 clients). A lot of people experience
this error. E.g. clicking a shared calendar will display "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error."

Also, "View group schedules" have an error. If you add some persons
(e.g. 40-50) and try displaying their calendars, it will not update
all information on all persons. Sometimes all you can see is the free/
busy information, even though you are allowed to read the content of
their schedule.

It seem to me that Outlook 2007 have a bug when it comes to connecting
to Exchange 2003 servers, and I would have no problem showing this
problem as it happens like every day.

The problem is not related to Laptops and/or power save. I have this
problem at several workstations with no power-savings. Also, the
problem is present at both Vista and XP SP2. We have no problems on
our Outlook 2003 clients.

I also encountered the issue again yesterday - no laptop hibernation or
anything. In the morning the calendar of the employee showed fine. Later in
the afternoon I could not view it anymore and received the error. This is
still broken.

I've ran Sysinternals Procmon and ran a trace on the error. Here's
some interesting:
OUTLOOK.EXE:
RegOpenKey,"HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services \Tcpip
\Linkage","REPARSE","Desired Access: Read"
RegQueryValue, HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Linka ge
\Bind, "BUFFER OVERFLOW","Length: 144"
"RegQueryValue","HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Ser vices\Tcpip\Linkage
\Bind","SUCCESS","Type: REG_MULTI_SZ, Length: 472, Data: \Device
\{55AC9BC4-D6C4-4BA4-9EBD-40BAE06D4F1E}, \Device\{4B189DB0-0F51-4C58-
B074-4625520333F5}, \Device\{B3C9FDED-3D84-40A6-9F85-E3050E11A4D0},
\Device\{5C7857BA-45F2-4E93-87B6-17C7452777A6}, \Device\
{BFEF283F-5816-41CA-81D2-9F6D047847B5}"
Then it just overflows again when connecting to Tcpip\Linkage\Bind.

If any Microsoft programmer is interested in the full process capture,
just get in touch in me at (remove 2 from
email)

The problem is also present in Outlook 2007 SP1.

After running Outlook over 24hours and tried to open a shared
calendar, I get the following error: "Cannot display the folder. The
information store could not be opened."

I am runningOutlook2007in an exchange 2003 environment. For 2 of the
shared calendars I access, most times I try to display them, I get an error
that says "Themessaging interfacehas returned an unknown error. If the
problem persists, restartoutlook." It doesn't fail 100% of the time, but it
does usually fail. I have access to 5 other calendars that work fine. I
double-checked the permissions on the 2 that work, and I have author-level
permissions. The affected calendars display properly for other users in the
office who are runningoutlook2003.

I've seen the error on the knowledge base with regards to printing a shared
calendar, but not for simply displaying them, as I am trying to do. Anybody
have any insights?- Hide quoted text -

So am I to understand that the problem goes away if using Exchange
2007 server (we are currently using 2003 and have the same problem
with some users that view multiple calendars). We are going to update
to Exchange 2007 in the very near future and hope that will clear the
problem.

Thanks all for the good information,

Indeed, this thread has been helpful, though an actual fix from MS
would certainly be nice. If anyone knows of the status of this
problem, please share.

Steve
