Default Easy question

Hi I know that I am asking something easy but I can't figure it out.
Up to now when I selected a word or sentence and typed something I wrote
over that word or sentence I selected. But since yesterday when I select a
sentence or word it can not be overwritten, but instead it is typed next to
the selected word.
How can I fix that?
Thanks
Dimitris

On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Edit tab. Make sure that
"Typing replaces selection" is checked, and then click OK.
