Cannot find reference to missing Linked file
Hello,
We have a workbook that contains links to several other workbooks. However, one of the links listed in 'Edit, Links' is not valid and the file no longer exists. I have tried every tool and trick I know to find where this file is referenced, to no avail. I have tried the Delete Links Wizard from the MS support note, as well as the Delete_Hidden_Names and other macros I also got from the MS Knowledge base. Nothing has been able to locate this mystery file. Can anyone help me resolve this? Thanks, Darla |

Can anyone help me resolve this? Have you tried FINDLINK.XLA from http://oaltd.co.uk/mvp ? If it doesn't find it for you I would be interested to see the workbook. My email address can be found from the Help button on the FindLink dialog. Bill Manville MVP - Microsoft Excel, Oxford, England No email replies please - respond to newsgroup |

I have the same problem with Ghost Links, i.e. Links appearing in the Defined Names, but not used in any cells, formulas etc. FINDLINK would be great if I just had a few ..xls-files, but we have hundreds of .xls's containing both standard broken external links (where source file has been moved and link thereby broken) and some Ghost (with remaining Defined Name). Since there are so many .xls-files, the best way to get rid of the Ghosts seems to be an utility program running thru specified folders/subfolders and removing Ghost Links (which are not used whatsoever in the .xls-file). Any idea on where to look for such an utility ? Best regards ToreT |
