I'm sure this question has been asked many times in the past, but I haven't
had much luck finding a solution.

Using OLE, where an Excel spreadsheet cell range is the source, is it
possible to specify a directory path as a relative link as opposed to an
absolute link.

Thanks,
Bob Mc

If you are talking about formula links from one Excel cell to another,
they are, in effect, always held as relative links if the two files are in
the same directory or related directories on the same drive.

Bill,

Thanks for your response to my question.

I'll try to describe the situation a little better.

I have CAD drawings that I've inserted (insert/link) certain cell ranges
from an Excel spreadsheet. I use the CAD drawings and the Excel spreadsheet
for various projects. When I begin a new project, I create a new directory
for that particular project. I then copy/paste the necessary CAD files as
well as the Excel spreadsheet to this new directory. When I open a CAD
drawing in the new directory, the OLE links still refer to the instance of
the Excel spreadsheet that resides in the original directory that I copied
it from (I believe this is an absolute path, correct?). What I'd like to
have is relative OLE links, where the OLE links refer to the instance of the
Excel spreadsheet residing in the new directory. I realize that I can
"update" the links to the new instance of the spreadsheet, but wondered if
there was a way to save this step.

I'm not sure how well I've explained this. I can try to provide an example
if you like.

Thanks,
Bob Mc

Thanks for the clear explanation.
I am not aware of a way to do this.
Sorry.
