Need help after installing new motherboard
Hi. I installed a new motherboard and after several
attempts to do a repair installation of XP Pro ended up reinstalling it because the OS would not uninstall the old mobo drivers. All of my old programs remained on my hard drive yet had to be reinstalled. I have Office XP Pro in the upgrade edition which I'm now trying to reinstall and as I do so I'm getting a screen saying I don't have a qualifying version, a screen pops up asking where it can be found which doesn't list anything next to the drive letters that might allow me to click on my prior installation, and the installation process aborts. I went into the program files and tried clicking on the individual executables but a screen popped up saying I needed to use setup to install each for this user. How can I work around this and reinstall my Office programs? I can't find the old CD from the 2000 which I upgraded from. Thanks. |

You can only work round this by finding/locating a qualifying product,
placing in the cd when the install is looking for QP and pointing the installation to it. The QP is part of the licence for yr upgrade product "TB" wrote in message ... Hi. Need help after installing new motherboard
So, there is no way of using the file transfer wizard
tool to access my prior OS installation and get the needed data to reinstall it? I still have access to it in Documents and Settings and thought perhaps there might be a way to import some files needed to allow a reinstall vs. new program install. What does the file transfer tool do and what good is it if it can't transfer the files you really need? Pardon me, I know this has nothing to do with Office but this shouldn't have even occurred were it not for XP reinstalling the very drivers I uninstalled time after time after time and forcing me to need to reinstall my OS. -----Original Message----- You can only work round this by finding/locating a qualifying product, placing in the cd when the install is looking for QP and pointing the installation to it. As far as I'm aware transfer wizard acts on files only.
When you install an app it applies/registers numerous settings in the registry these you cannot copy, leastways not in the way you wish. If you cannot locate yr QP you can allways ebay for one, or borrow. I should point out that yr Licence for the OfficeXP upgrade requires that you have the QP. "TB" wrote in message ... If you originally registered your software with MS you
can get replacement discs for a nominal charge. -----Original Message----- As far as I'm aware transfer wizard acts on files only.
