Default Updated: Outlook Calendar Sharing Publishing/Syncing Work Around

It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing problems with
their Outlook Calendar Sharing. I am here to let you know that we are
actively working on the problem, and we’ll keep you up-to-date as we learn
more. We currently have two workarounds (listed below) which will allow you
to continue to use the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Common Symptoms:
• When publishing a calendar to Office Online, Outlook prompts user to sign
in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating “The upload of ‘calendar
name’ failed.”
• When refreshing Outlook’s Inbox via ‘Send/Receive’, Outlook prompts user
to sign in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating “The upload of
‘calendar name’ failed.”
• Online Calendar does not appear to be syncing with Outlook

Workaround #1:
This workaround will allow you to continue the Outlook Calendar Sharing
service without the need to republish your calendars. Note: This workaround
may not work for all users.

1) Close Outlook.
2) If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, open Internet Explorer by:
a) Click on Start Menu
b) Go to All Programs
c) Right Click on Internet Explorer
d) Click Run as Administrator
If you are using Windows XP, open Internet Explorer by double clicking on
the icon.
(Note: this walkthrough will be explained using Internet Explorer 8)
3) In the top right, click Safety to open the dropdown.
4) Click Delete Browsing History… to open the Delete Browsing History window.
5) Uncheck Preserve Favorites website data.
6) Check Temporary Internet files, Cookies, History, Form data, Passwords,
InPrivate Filtering data.
7) Click Delete.
8) Using Internet Explorer, go to: http://office.microsoft.com/. Remember
if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, to run Internet Explorer as an
Administrator.
9) In the top right corner, click Sign in.
10) On the sign in page, enter your Email address and Password.
11) Click Save my e-mail address and password, make sure you select this
field and not the other two.
12) Click Sign in.
13) Open Outlook, at this time you should be able to publish calendars and
sync with the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Workaround #2:
Use this workaround as a last resort, using this method will require you to
republish and share your calendars.

1) Open Outlook
2) Open Account Settings. If you are using Outlook 2007 you can find Account
Settings under Tools - Account Settings. If you are using Outlook 2010 Beta
you can find Account Settings under File - Account Settings - Account
Settings….
3) Click Published Calendars tab in the Account Settings window.
4) Select your existing Calendars and click Remove.
5) Click Yes to the window that appears asking if you would like to stop
publishing the calendar.
6) At this moment, a window will appear stating Outlook cannot delete the
calendars through the client and will ask if you want to delete the calendars
via http://office.microsoft.com; if this window appears click Yes, from here
you must delete all your online calendars using Internet Explorer. If this
window does not appear, it is recommended you open Internet Explorer and go
to: http://office.microsoft.com, sign into the Outlook Calendar Sharing
Service and delete all of your online calendars.
7) Return to Outlook once all your online calendars have been deleted from
the Outlook Calendar Sharing website.
8) Inside Outlook return to Account Settings and then to the Published
Calendars tab.
9) Click Change Account… which can be found on the Published Calendars tab.
10) Click Yes on the window which warns you that all calendars currently
published to Office Online will no longer be published.
11) Click Sign in on the Office Online / Office.com Registration window. If
you are already signed in, click Sign Out and close the window, and return to
Step 9.
12) Type your Email Address and Password.
13) Select Save my e-mail address and password.
14) Click Sign in.
15) Click Finish.
16) Republish and share your calendars. More Information on how to do this
can be found he
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...809831033.aspx.

If you are experiencing problems with subscribing to a Calendar, it is
recommended you attempt Workaround #1 before trying to resubscribe to a
calendar.
