Research popped open cannot print, save or turn it off in Publishe
Wnhile using Publisher 2003, Research poppped open (I don't use it), I can
not turn if off, it will not let me print, edit, copy or save! I can't open the tools to turn it off, nor use the add/remove buttons. I closed Publisher and opened it again, but it happended again. I cannot work on my project! How can I turn it off? Delete it? Words appears OK for now. Please give me ideas on what to try next, I looked around here but did not find an answer, did I miss something? Thank you for your time and effort. CJSM |

CJSM was very recently heard to utter:

It sounds like your copy of Publisher has gone into Reduced Functionality Mode. The fact that the Research toolbar has become stuck open is merely a coincidence. Might do a "detect and repair" found in the help.

I don't think it helped, as I ran the repair, but as I tried to type words,
the Research keeps popping up. Only now it adds strange text to the sentence that I did NOT type in. What do I try next? Something has to work, yes? Can you turn the research off at all?
Tools, research, research options.. uncheck everything. Services that are automatically added to the Research task pane each time you open it can be turned off by clearing the check box for the service you don't want in the Research options dialog. To remove services such as Translation or Thesaurus, go to Office Setup (Office Shared Features Proofing Tools) and uninstall them. Check your accessibility options. If you are getting gibberish, your microphone maybe enabled or the keyboard options are enabled. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "CJSM" wrote in message ... I haved checked Accessibility, ok but I can't get Research off. I have
unchecked everything like you said. Where do I find Office Setup? I tried All Programs/Office/Tools it was not there. In Publisher I tried Tools/customize & options. Did something not get installed? Where do I look for it? Thank you for your time and effort! "Mary Sauer" wrote: Can you turn the research off at all? Tools, research, research options.. uncheck everything. You find the Office Setup in the control panel, add or remove programs, scroll down
to Microsoft Office, click change... This should not be happening, this is why detect and repair was suggested. You could be having some corruption going on in the application. This usually has to do with the installer. You might do an installer cleanup and re-install Office. Be certain you have your product code handy. Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 I have used this, it will not remove any data... -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "CJSM" wrote in message ... Research popped open cannot print, save or turn it off in Publ
InShared Features/ tools I have turned off French & Spanish, (I still have
English on, I was afraid I would not have spell checking). Can I trun it off and still have spell checker? I did not find Translation, Thesaurus. In Office Tools I saw Research Explorer Bar - but did nothing as I don't know what it is and don't want more problems. I will try to work in Publisher on Sunday and have my fingers crosses. Thank you. "Mary Sauer" wrote: You find the Office Setup in the control panel, add or remove programs, scroll down to Microsoft Office, click change...
