Default Publisher 2003: how can I make a text box into a differnt shape.

I am trying to change the shape of a textbox or put text into other shapes.

Right-click the autoshape, add text. The text will not conform to the shape.

FWIW, if you select an autoshape and just begin typing, it will
automagically add text.

I have a couple of ways you can get text to conform to inside shapes on my web site.
Not pretty (I am not artistic), but if Publisher is the only drawing tool you have it
is a workaround.
