I have an Excel spreadsheet that I need to convert into a specifi.
I have a hospital schedule in Excel. We identify work areas each day and
post them to an "Assignment Sheet." I need the Excel data to be reconfigured each day innto our working assignment sheet. Do I use Microsoft Project? If not, what program? |

Unless you know how to use Project, do not use Project. It is not a
simple program. It is sophisticated project management calculation engine. It is for making computations about projects. My hunch is that your hospital schedule assignment sheets are not "projects". They are, if I understand what they might be, rota's of assignments. I doubt you are doing much calculation and are in fact just tables of informations (rows, columns, names, dates, etc.) You can use Excel. You may even want to keep it simpler and use Word. Or even paper and pencil. Hope this is useful to you. Let us know. rms db4irish wrote: I have a hospital schedule in Excel. We identify work areas each day and post them to an "Assignment Sheet." Thank you, Rob. Yes, Excel has helped us organize our weeks. However,
day-to-day we manually write the content from Excel onto another assignment sheet used by 75 or so staff members, so that they know where they are assigned and the charge person knows the various shifts people are working. So my question is: How do I get Excel to dump onto another sheet that is specific to times and work areas. For example, 6 people are assigned to do cardiac work, while three others are scheduled to get out early since they were on call the night before. Each assignment goes on the assignment sheet in a different place. Thanks for your prompt reply and effort. Diane "Rob Schneider" wrote: Unless you know how to use Project, do not use Project. This is all very possible. Frankly, if I were doing it, i would write a
small Microsoft Access program that holds the plan, then produce various reports or extracts that show the assignments. Doing it in Excel is more complicated. However it is possible. You do it by designing the application, then developing it (using VBA). In any event, procure via your IT Support group (or elsewhere) the services of a good developer who can translate your business needs into a functional work process supported by the computer tool. As I said ... a real database is the better (cost, quality, and risk mitigation) than depending on Excel. Hope this is useful to you. Let us know. rms Diane B wrote: Thank you, Rob.
