Default changing record position on a form

HI
Can anybody help me please.
I have a form set to Continuious forms with many records showing.
I wish to change the position of a record in the list.
The date base has a front and back end and the form displays jobs in a list
there is a field I have named priority in the record but how can I change the
priority and sort the records to show the proprity while users are changing
date in records all the time. Is record locking going to be a problem? I have
record locking set to none but in the multi user databse it still seems to
lock when I change the priority when a user has edited a field in the record.
Help would be most apreciated
Steve
