Default Word stops reponding for a minute or so

Hi

I have a new PC running Win xp pro and Office 2003 pro. When the user is
typing in word, it just stops responding for no apparent reason. After a
minute or so the curser will suddenly start flashing again and the user can
continue! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Any
thoughts would be much appriciated. Could it be the RAM? All other progams
on the PC appear to run without problems

You have something running on yourc computer that causes
word to freeze. The best way to determine what process it
is is too use your "task manager" Go there click processes,
Click "view" "select columns" and make sure that CPU Usage
is checked.click ok
now click the CPU tab so it shows the process using the
highest presentage is on top.
Now go to word leaving the task manager run on top. start
typing when you get a freeze look and see what
program/process is using all the resourses. That is the
one with that is causing the problem. If it is WORD, then
make sure you have all the office updates and try
disconnecting any mapped drives.

Look in taskmanager to see what the PC is doing during these episodes.
