Word imposes a green border on a table in header and footer
My document contains a header and footer, each of which I
have formatted by including a 2 column table. When I set this up, I set the table to have a black border at the bottom only. The problem is that *every time* the document is opened or print preview is accessed, Word makes the header and footer table border green. I have tried removing the border altogether and saving the document, but Word still imposes this green border every time the document is opened or previewed. This problem has been quite costly, because it is a large document, and when this happens the print shop charges colour rates for all pages (90) instead of only the pages that *should* have colour (10). So a $12 print job ends up costing almost $100. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way to fix it without having to manually change the border every time (which is error prone)? Thank you very much! |

Word imposes a green border on a table in header and footer
Hi Sylvia,
If you have only one header and footer, that's the problem. In Word, in order to make any change in the header/footer from one page to the next -- including changing just the color of a border -- you must (a) insert a section break between the pages where the change occurs, (b) remove the Same As Previous attribute from the header/footer of the second section, and (c) make the change in the second section. If there is only one section, or if Same As Previous is still in effect, the header/footer will be the same on all pages. The article at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...rontMatter.htm discusses this issue as regards page numbering, but the principles are the same for color changes. -- Regards, Jay Freedman http://aspnet2.com/mvp.ashx?JayFreedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org "Sylvania" wrote: My document contains a header and footer, each of which I have formatted by including a 2 column table.
