Mouse will not select text or allow for creating a text box

I have a user who we are constantly having to do a detect a repair and
checking disgard my customize settings so that we can select text within a
document using his mouse. So far today we have had to do this twice. Once
we do this we can use the mouse to select text or create a text box, but it
seems to be happening way too often. He also rights programing scripts in
Word for SAP. That is the only thing we have noticed is when he uses word
within SAP - this happens. Has anyone ever heard of something like this, any
ideas on how to fix it?

I don't know an answer, but I bet the people who do would be helped if
they know what versions of what programs are being used and what version of
Windows is being used.
