Default Primary Key start number

Hi

How can you set a primary key number (autonumber) to start
from a particular number - eg "10000"

I have invoices issued from an old accounts package - and
am creating a new database to replace it, but do not want
to duplicate old invoice numbers. I seem to remember in
the past a way of setting this but cant remember - any
help please ?

Thanks

Using an autonumber as a value which humans will see is risky -- they
(autonumbers, not humans) are designed for use as a unique row identifier,
to help in relating tables. If you have a number (invoice number?) you wish
humans to see and understand, consider creating your own "custom autonumber"
(check this newsgroup, mvps.org, or Google.com for examples).

If you must carry on, despite these dire warnings, create an append query
that appends a single value to the autonumber field. If you want to start
after "10000", append that number. Then open the table and delete that row.
The next autonumber SHOULD be 10001 (but don't say I didn't warn you!).

Good luck!
