Yes, but you're a few service packs behind because Office 2000 is up to
SP4 now. David D M Reid wrote: Is office 2000 pro sr-1 ok to run with windows xp |

Coming back to the initial question, what could be the
reason for Office 2000 Programs not to run on Windows XP Professional even if after the installation a window pop up confirmed the installation was completed. Here is some info on my particular situation. The computer (laptop) on which I am trying to install Office 2000 was part of my wife severance package and was done in a very upfront and legal way by her company (large international cie). The agreement was that only the Windows XP Professional OS was to be left on the laptop with some of her personnal files. I installed Office 2000 (was runnig great on my old laptop with Win98-SE)on her laptop and at the end of the process I was informed in a window pop that the installation was completed. Also the files that were in a different format before the installation can now be seen with the Word and Excel regular icon. The problem is that when I click directly on the Program in the Start menu or directly on a file, nothing happens. Well not exactly, I see the hourglass appear for a fraction of a second and it goes away. I never get an error message of any kind. I tried reinstalling and doing a repair, but its still the same. Considering that the configuration of the laptop was done by the IT group of the company were my wife used to work, would there be something in that configuration or something else that I should look at, other then the Office installation. Though I can use all of the applications (Word, Excel, Power Point etc...) I do not feel I have the knowledge to get out of a situation if ever I encounter a problem while upgrading to an other SP. So for now an upgrade is not an option. Thank you in advance. -----Original Message----- Yes, but you're a few service packs behind because Office 2000 is up to SP4 now.
