Default Please help with "Valid Windows package error"

In attempting to reinstall Small Business Edition Office 2003, I get "This
installation could not be opened...verify valid Windows Installer package."
error message from Windows Installer. The installation always stops after a
long pause loading the stdp11n.msi file.

I tried copying the CD to disk and got a transfer error on this same file.

The Installer is updated to 3.1 v2, I believe.

Any ideas on how I can overcome this problem are appreciated..
