Problem installing Office XP PRO
I installed the software on a new PC and when I want to access say
word.excel, etc.. a window pops up asking for the 25-character product key, and the top of that window says MS Office 2003 Setup, and right below that it says MS Office Standard Edition 2003. And I can find the Office XP Pro. Any thoughts or ideas? |

Problem installing Office XP PRO
Sounds like your computer came with a trial version of Office
2003 preinstalled by the computer manufacturer. You should have removed the Office 2003 trial before you installed your copy of Office XP. At this point, I suggest that you click on Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs, uninstall Office XP, uninstall the Office 2003 trial, restart the computer, and then reinstall Office XP. stoner wrote: I installed the software on a new PC and when I want to access say word.excel, etc.. a window pops up asking for the 25-character product key, and the top of that window says MS Office 2003 Setup, and right below that it says MS Office Standard Edition 2003. ..doc and .xls files should remain intact as long as you didn't
put them in the same folders where the Office program files are located (such as "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data" or "C:\Program Files"). As a precaution, you should back up your outlook.pst file (which is where your emails are stored) in case Something Bad happens. stoner wrote: Cool thanks for a quick reply, now what would happen to all the doc.xls. email etc. that I currently have in my PC? I've never used Magic Jelly Bean but it's my understanding that it's a nice
program that does exactly what you need. But if you've uninstalled Office already, there's nothng to retrieve. Is this a retail version or did it come with your computer? -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "j.m." wrote in message ... after a major crash needed to reinstall office xp 2002,but found the c/d ok but have lost the product key, have tried using magic jelly bean key finder & 2 others marvellous in finding windows xp key but could not find office, i have the c/d with cd set number on it. is tier any help i can get out thier j.m -- j.m. Problem installing Office XP PRO
If your system still running you can use special software to recover your Windows and Office key. Most of them support some versions of Windows and some other Microsoft products. Also there is a products like "Recover Keys" ( http://recover-keys.com/ ) that support all Windows and Office versions and 300+ of other major software packages.
