Default Printer has not yet responded...

I'm in Word 2003 SP3...

Everytime I open Word I get a long hang up followed by the message "Printer
has not yet responded, but the Microsoft Office program may be able to
proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the
printer? Yes/No". If I select "no" I can continue working, but obviously
can't print. If I select "yes" I eventually get a brief hang up and the same
message.

Now, I can print a test page from the printer options, I can print from
Excel...anyone know why I'm having trouble with Word?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure what the problem might be. Just to be sure, though: you do have
a locally installed printer driver (which is required by Word)? For more on
this, see the section on printers in the article at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm.
