how can i create a cross reference just to the picture or table number and
note the whole legend or just Figure x/Table X part of the legend? (even if
the answer includes using and programing fields i would still appreciate it).

Thank You

See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/CombineXrefs.htm for the general

Hi Guilherme

When you insert the cross-reference, you have the option of choosing the entire caption or just the caption label and number. See
the 'Insert reference to' dropdown in the Insert|Cross-Reference dialogue box.

I think he doesn't want the label, just the number.

Yes, I am just looking for the number. There is allways the option of
deleting the part of the reference the I don't want, but if i do this, if i
have the need to update de field, the whole legend comes up again.
