Default Excel 2003 - "no printers installed"

We've got Office 2003 published on via a Citrix Metaframe 4.0 farm
(Windows 2003), and it's been working fine for 40+ users. However,
recently created users can't print from Excel 2003.

Our users have Wyse thin clients, and therefore no locally created
printers. They can add printers to their (roaming) profile using
Novell's iPrint software - they visit our Intranet page, find the
printer they want to use on a map, click it and it's installed for them.

All existing users can print from all applications (including Excel)
with no problems. The new users can print from all applications EXCEPT
Excel. When they try, they get a "no printers are installed" error.

I've applied Office 2003 SP1 with no effect. The problem is reproducable
even through a Full Desktop and Remote Desktop, logged in as the user.
Looking at the Printer Control Panel when logged in as the user, there
are several printers installed, and I can print from all applications
except Excel.

I've searched through MS's knowledgebases, but there's no mention of a
similar problem. As this is reproducable from a Remote Desktop, I'm
confident it's not a Citrix problem.

Can anyone help?

Hi Kenny,

Is there something different in the profiles for
these new users from the existing ones?

There are several things that might be happening.
You may need to see if this hotfix applies
http://support.microsoft.com/default...us;873396&FR=1
if you're able to use Start=Settings=Printers
and mark one of the printer choices as default.

There shouldn't be - the profiles are extremely "bare bones"; users are
logging in from thin clients and only accessing Citrix published apps.
I've deleted their profiles and let them auto-recreate with no difference ..

That hotfix seems specific to 2000. Interestingly, though, I've noticed
that I *can't* set a default printer for these users. Clicking "set as
default printer" does nothing ... that's got to be related. I might wait
until after-hours tonight and delete ALL printers from the servers ...
