Default Changing how linked objects (Excel) are displayed in Word.

Thank you for the response.

I'm inserting the object (Excel spreadsheet) using the Object, Create from File command from the insert menu and checking the link to file button after selecting the file. Word inserts the spreadsheet but does not "zoom" to show all of the rows / columns containing data; neither does it allow me to select which rows / columns are displayed. If I double click on the object, it opens the spreadsheet in a separate Excel window. If I single click the object it selects it and allows me to resize the entire object (as if I was stretching it) but not alter the number of columns / rows displayed.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?SmVubmlmZXIgSGFyd29vZA==?=,

I'm inserting the object (Excel spreadsheet) using the Object, Create from File

command from the insert menu and checking the link to file button after selecting
the file. Word inserts the spreadsheet but does not "zoom" to show all of the rows
/ columns containing data; neither does it allow me to select which rows / columns
are displayed. If I double click on the object, it opens the spreadsheet in a
separate Excel window. If I single click the object it selects it and allows me to
resize the entire object (as if I was stretching it) but not alter the number of
columns / rows displayed.

I suggest you try the copy/paste method, as I described in some detail in my
previous reply.

If you really want to go the route you describe here, then you need to edit the LINK
field to use a specified range. This can be a named range, or a cell reference. Do
the copy/paste link bit, then press Alt+F9 and you'll see how the LINK field is set
up.
