Link to another workbook path issue
I have 2 excel 2003 workbooks with links to a common workbook. In one of the
two files the path portion of the link appears to be set to the path of the file that contains the link. When I originally linked the files the source and destination file were in the same folder. When I copy the destination file containing the link to antoher location, the path portion of the link changes to the new path of my destination file as opposed to having the original path of the source file. My second file does not do this, it keeps the path of the source file. For example the original link in my file is ='Y:\month1\[monthly file]sheet1'!A1 When I copy the file to c:\test the link automatically changes to ='c:\test\[monthly file]sheet1'!a1 The file name stays the same but the path moves to the same path as my current file? How can I stop this from happening? Thanks in advance. |

Link to another workbook path issue
Hi Craig
If it is just a case of links, in Excel, go to the Edit Menu and select Links. From here you will able to "re-point" the links back to the original workbook. You may also want to try having all the work books open concurrently. The using the save as function, the links will correctly update as the referances to the existing work books are currently active. Clear as mud !!
