Default Multi-Level Bulleted Lists

I ma having trouble with multiple level bulleted lists.
The first bullet line is ok. Then I hit return to begin
the second line. When I hit tab to indent for the second
line the bullet doesn't change or follow the text over.
The same for the third line. I think this is some kind
of "options" issue but I can't figure it out. Help
Please!!!!!!!

The location of this setting depends on your version of Word:

* In Word 2000 and earlier, look on the Edit tab of Tools | Options for
"Tabs and backspace set left indent."

* In Word 2002 and above, look on the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools |
AutoCorrect Options for "Set first- and left-indent with tabs and
backspaces."
