Default How do I get Outlook to auto check e-mail on startup?

Since switching to Outlook from Outlook Express, I can't seem to get Outlook
to automatically check my mail at startup of Outlook (The box requesting
this feature is checked, but not apparently working). Suggestions?

No version of Outlook has such a box.
