Default Won't assign default mail account for outgoing mail

I created a new account that my mail server wouldn't recognise so I deleted it
and went back to my default account. But now when I start to send an email I
get a message that says: "One or more messages in your Outbox do not have a
valid account specified. Would you like to use your default account to send
these messages".

I click yes then get a server error saying the message could not be sent
because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address..... which the error
message says is the new account I deleted because it didn't work.

I get the no valid account assigned to messages in my Outbox everytime I
open Outlook Express and it asks me if I wanna use my default account to send
them, even though I don't have messages in the Outbox. I'm having to go
through this procedure with every email I send.

Looks like the problem is Outlook Express is not assigning my account ( I
only have one set up) to my outgoing mail. And when it askes me if I want to
send the mail using my default account and I click yes... it's sending it
through an account that
has been deleted, which is triggering a server error about an invalid
account..... although my mail is actually being delivered....

Is there any way to assign my default account to my outgoing mail... besides
through Tools, options, and then in my mail account manager? Because I've
tried doing it that way several times already. Seems there should be some way
to get rid of all these error messages that pop up everytime I open Outlook
Express and everytime I try to send an email...

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
BJ

Hi BJ,

There may be bad messages (created when the account was not correctly
configured) stuck in the Outbox. If they can be seen when the Outbox is open
they can be moved or deleted. If no messages show try deleting the
Outbox.dbx file, which may be corrupt.

To resolve this behavior, rename or delete the Outbox.dbx file:
Close Outlook Express before renaming or deleting a DBX file.

Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
In the Named box, type Outbox.dbx.
In the Look in box, click your primary hard disk (usually drive C), and then
click Find Now. You may need to include hidden files and folders for your
search.
Right-click the Outbox.dbx file that appears, and then click Rename. It is
okay to delete the file instead.
Type Outbox.old, and then click OK.
Restart Outlook Express to rebuild the Outbox.dbx file, and then send a
message.

Open the Store Folder Alternative

1. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store
Folder.
2. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder.
3. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end.
4. Right-click on the text and choose Copy.
5. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store
folder.

Using Keyboard Shortcuts for the Open the Store Folder Alternative

An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to
highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run
and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily
modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options.

Register Outlook Express as your default mail program.

Go to Start | Run and type the following:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg

(Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure that is correct) (and to prevent
typos, copy/paste the line above into Start/Run)

Make certain to include the quotations marks and the space between the
ending quotation mark and the slash.

Then open Internet Explorer and go to Tools\Internet Options\Programs and
set OE as the default mail (and news) program.

Thanks guys. The problem turned out to be a bad message stuck in my Outbox. I
would never have solved my problem without following the instructions from
you good folks.... Thanks. It's appreciated.
