common scan to excel problem
Reading the f.a.q.'s, this seems to be a common problem. I also need
some help with scanning a document from Hp to Excel. I need to edit the document once scanned. On opening the document in Excel after scanning I get a distorted image of the document. Please Help! --- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |

common scan to excel problem

You can scan as text using a good OCR program to create a text file. You can then open the text file in Excel and use the Text Import Wizard to place the text data in rows and columns. You would have to change text numerics back into real numerics and do some formatting/manipulation. It is not easy and requires that your OCR program be able to do a good job recognizing characters. I use an HP Scanjet 4300C with fair success. Check out the Help for "HP PrecisionScan LTX" and troubleshooting the "I did not get what I wanted" section. I think 90% recogn1tion is considered fairly good. Gord Dibben Excel MVP On Sun, 2 May 2004 06:00:46 -0500, cmlm wrote: Reading the f.a.q.'s, this seems to be a common problem.
