Outlook express changes SMTP to localhost
Hi,
Here at my office, our Outlook Express, changes the smtp server of our accounts to "localhost", whenever it feels like. As we use one provider to access the internet, and have email with a domain registered with other provider, sometimes we loose our email and have to correct the SMTP field in Outlook Express. Only little time after, it changes back to "localhost". Does anynone knows if there is a patch fr this? We have ou Win XP Pro up to date, and our server is a Win 2000 Server (but the email does passes through a central email application) Thank you |

Outlook express changes SMTP to localhost
That is normally caused by an antivirus program set to scan all incoming
email. Disable that option, reset the settings in OE's Tools/Accounts/Mail and all should be well. The scanning provides no added security anyway and only leads to corruption of files, and you antivirus program will warn you if you ever attemtp to open or save an infected file. -- Jim Pickering, MVP-Outlook Express Please reply only to newsgroup. Outlook express changes SMTP to localhost
Well, my email client only scans pop mail, i.e, ingoing
mail, as the problem is with outgoing mail (smtp), but I'm going to try it anyway. I'll leave a feedback later.
