Cannot open Outlook 2003 at all
Recently purchased new computer (after a HD crash) that had a trial version
of Office 2007 installed. I uninstalled the trial version and re-installed my trusty Office 2003 Professional. I then restored my latest backup of my HD - which was only a week or two old. Since then I have been total unable of use or even open Outlook 2003. Getting a message that my "default e-mail cannot be opened" and "a datafile to send & receive e-mail could not be found" and "go to the Mail icon in the control panel to add a data file". When I do this there is nothing to choose from and no way to manual enter a name. I've tried reparing my PST and copying it from the old location to what I think is the appropriate new location, bu tstill no luck. Any suggestions? |

The key here is "I restored my latest backup of my HD."
What does that mean? What did you do to migrate your Outlook data and connect it to your current Outlook profile? Nothing was done correctly, I would surmise. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Jerry" wrote in message ... Cannot open Outlook 2003 at all
A week or two before my hard drive turned into a brick, I performed a monthly
backup to my ClickFree backup device.. After I set up my new computer, I restored what I could. I'm pretty sure that I uninstalled the trial Office 2007 and installed the Office 2003 Professional after I had restored what I could from my backup. Since my old HD turned into a brick without warning, I was not able to migrate anything. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: The key here is "I restored my latest backup of my HD." Explain what kind of backup you use that does not permit you to access the
data you backed up. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Jerry" wrote in message ... A week or two before my hard drive turned into a brick, I performed a monthly backup to my ClickFree backup device.. The default settings for the ClickFree backup device only backs up data
files...spreadsheets, documents, pictures, music, etc. I did not realize this until I needed to perform arestore.
