Default missing fonts

I've just upgraded to Office 2003 and XP SP1 and fonts that were available in
Office 2000, eg Jokerman, do not appear in Office 2003. I tried finding them
on the Office install disk without success. Should the complete set of fonts
have appeared after install of 2003? How do I get the missing ones,
particularly Jokerman please?

Microsoft includes the Jokerman font with Greetings 99, Home Publishing
99, Office 2000 Premium, Office 97 Small Business Edition SR2, Office
Professional Edition 2003, PhotoDraw 2000, Picture It! 2000, Picture It!
2002, Picture It! 98, Picture It! 99, Plus! 98, Publisher 2000, and
Publisher 98. You can install the font from one of these programs.

Thanks for the reply. I have Office Prof Edn 2003 but I don't know how to
install Jokerman in it. Jokerman did not appear automatically in the dropdown
list of fonts after initial installation. How do I install Jokerman from
Office 2003 please?

As far as I know, all available fonts on the Office CD are installed
automatically. Are you sure you have the Professional version of Office
2003 and not Standard or Small Business or something else? If you look
in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, do you see a file named something like
Jokerman.ttf? Click on Start | Control Panel | Printers, and if the
default printer "Generic/Text Only" or "Fax", change it to a printer
that is capable of printing fonts. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=133732 "Missing TrueType Fonts in
Fonts Folder or Programs" for another possible solution.

Thanks again, yes I definitely have prof edn 2003; jokerman.ttf is definitely
not in the Fonts folder. The support link you quoted matches my symptoms but
does it apply to Win XP?

WinXP is not listed in the "applies to" section... that doesn't mean it
doesn't apply, just that Microsoft hasn't tested the solution on WinXP.
If you have access to another computer that has this font installed,
you can try copying the .ttf file from there to a floppy, and then
installing the .ttf from the floppy to your computer through Start |
Control Panel | Fonts | File | Install New Font. That's all the ideas I
have at this point. If you want to try the registry fix described in
the KB article, make a backup copy of your registry before proceeding.
Or maybe someone else will come along with a better suggestion.

I had a similar problem where fonts on one computer with Office 2003 small
business were not showing or printing when the document was opened on another
computer with office 2003 basic.

the basic problem is that some fonts don't come with some MS Office versions.

to fix this:
if you have an old computer with the fonts already installed, copy the font
files from c:\windows\fonts folder to the desktop of the new computer you
want to add the fonts to.
if you can't find font files, try to download them from Internet.
Then on the new computer go to Start | Control Panel | Fonts | File |
Install New Font.
