Default how can I retain formatting/graphics using Mail/Merge for email?

using Word and Mail/Merge to send a letter to a list of addresses via email
I get no tranmission using HTML format, drop all formatting and logos using
Plain Text format, and send an empty text block in the email message if I use
attachment format. I wish to retain formatting and logos-- what is the
magic combilation in the world of Word, Mail/Merge, and email?
